Bill Clinton may be one of the most intelligent men ever to be President. You cannot explain away the fact that he disgraced his office with his affair with Monica Lewinsky.Blow jobs,cigars and subpoenas.

He failed to take on Al-Qaeda especially after the attacks on the two embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. He should gone all to destroy Osama bin Laden in 1998. Could 9/11 have been averted if Clinton had toppled the Taliban in 1998?Who knows?

He also failed to address the issue of race in a way that only he could.He was a White Southerner who had huge appeal with Black America. No major initiative on race between 1993-2001.

You sound starry eyed about Hilary Clinton. Those of us who take a deeper interest in American politics note that this was the speech of political chameleon.She made that speech because he can't afford to piss off the party elders.Already, she's looking at 2012.

Hilary Clinton has always been a ruthless opportunist, who will say anything to further her career.

She supported the creation Palestinian state in the 1990s,even kissing Yasir Arafat's wife in the White House.By 2000, when running for the Senate in New York, she labelled him a terrorist. Why? She needed the Jewish vote to get elected.

When rumours of Bill's philandering affairs emerged in 1992,Hilary made it plain that she would destroy any woman that went public.Any woman who came forward would be labelled a liar or a whore.Some feminist icon!!We know that Gennifer Flowers was telling the truth, as was Kathleen Willey, as was Monica Lewinsky, as was Paula Jones.This was a career woman who knew that her and Bill's destinies were inextricably linked.The sisterhood was not even a factor.

Forgot to mention, the war in Iraq. She voted for that idiotic war. She calculated that with George Bush's popularity sky high post 9/11, she could not afford to be labelled un patriotic.That was not principle, but politcal calculation.

The Clinton White House was the most poll driven in recent memory.Nothing was done unless or until, the Clintonistas looked at the numbers.

By the way, she's a wooden speaker.

If he does win, and it's still not certain, racism will not disappear.American has always been a racist nation even before the arrival of African slaves.

The indigenous peoples aka Red Indians were killed and their land was taken from them.The White Europeans regarded them as uncivilised savages. So the rise of the White/Christian race as the force rests on the fact that another race was subjugated to make way for the increasing number of European settlers.Nothing Obama does or will do will change the ignorance of White America.

You are asking way too much of one man, and let us not forget ,he is a man not a divine entity.He cannot change the hearts of men.

What Barack Obama represents is symbolic, in the the same way that John Kennedy was symbolic(first Roman Catholic) in who can be President.No longer will race be an issue in future contests.

Not propaganda at all but merely a re-addressment of the shocking Anglocentric way in which world news is portrayed in this country. Where's the balance for intellignet people to decide for themselves??? Oh by the way, did you read my first blog? Here'a another one for you: war has broken out between Russia and Georgia, Medvedev is the President but it's Putin who is on the telly all the time making pronouncements and being interviewed by the Western media. Nobody wants to speak to the puppet that is Medvedev. And you tell me 'democracy' (such as it is in Russia) is a great thing?!? At least the Chinese know where they stand under Communist rule!

You wouldn't be another one of the army of Chinese guys who are busy flooding the blogosphere this afternoon being employed to trying and talk up the Olympics, would you? There are all sorts of people who have never blogged before suddenly commenting on how great they China is.

For what it matters, it wasn't bad, though I tend not to like the schmaltzy children thing so much, (What was that 5 year old doing on the piano with Langlang?) The fireworks were as excellent as I would expect, and the big crowd sequences very well done.

The bit I couldn't take seriously was where the old guy went up i the roof to light the torch. It went on too long and was frankly more humorous than dramatic.
